Droichead Arts Centre is a small, independently run Arts Centre with charitable status situated in the centre of Drogheda. The organisation celebrates 23 years in existence. It was originally opened in Scholes Lanes, in 1989 and moved to its current site.

The Municipal Centre, Stockwell Street in 1994.

Droichead with the assistance of European funding and fund raising purchased Barlow House in 1999. Barlow House, a fine Georgian Building situated at the entrance to West Street once functioned as the Garda Station.

Droichead Arts Centre has established itself as significant venue for theatre, live music, visual arts and community arts in Drogheda and it surrounds, popular with artists and audiences alike for its intimacy, friendliness and commitment to professional presentation of small scale arts and entertainment.

Drogheda is the 10th largest town in Ireland and is one of the fastest growing. Situated at the gateway to the Boyne Valley, one of Ireland’s most historic towns, Drogheda has undergone significant growth in recent years. Census 2006 indicated Drogheda’s current population at 35,000, a figure set to double in the coming years. The population of Louth/North East Meath is predicted to rise to 100,000 by 2024.

Our Mission is to present, nurture and promote the arts within Drogheda and its surrounding area.

Our Vision is to be a principle driver for the arts in Drogheda and surrounding regions, developing expertise in identified art forms and to be recognised for an innovative approach to programming which meets the needs of our community.

How to Book

Droichead Arts Centre accepts bookings online, by telephone and in person.

As and from Monday 11th March, all bookings, taken at box office or over the phone, will now incur a €1 booking charge per transaction. There will be no booking charge applied to any online bookings. There are some exemptions to the booking charges. These include transactions under €10, classes and memberships such as the Film Club and Droichead Youth Theatre.
